Lisa McLaughlin

President

Lisa McLaughlin served as the president of the MOCA Board of Directors since 2005 (originally as a co-chair with Merle Rosenberg). She also serves as the chairperson for the Calling All Angels fundraiser and as co-chair for the Silent No More Walk/Run event.

Lisa is a first-grade teacher for Wayzata Public Schools; she’s also an avid runner and mountain biker. She was recognized by Minnesota Monthly magazine in 2005 for the Heart of the Event Award, and in 2007 was awarded Twin Cities Woman of the Year in recognition of her extraordinary commitment to MOCA.

Lisa’s life was first touched by ovarian cancer in 2000, when her stepmother, Jane Franczyk, was diagnosed with the disease in stage IIIc. Her stepmom battled the illness for 14 months, with the love and support of her family, before her death at age 54. Ever since Jane passed away, Lisa has worked with MOCA to spread awareness about the warning signs of ovarian cancer and the need for a reliable screening test. Lisa’s memories and love for her stepmom keep her dedication to this disease close to her heart.

Lisa feels blessed to live in Minnesota, where she can be close to her family and friends, and she’s honored to be serving as MOCA’s president.
