MOCA Quilt

Currently, MOCA displays its first quilt at health fairs and other
special events, like the Walk/Run. We are working on putting
together squares for a second quilt and have already received
several blocks. If you, a family member or friend would like to
create a block, please contact  Kathleen at: kgavin@mnovarian.org
or call MOCA at 612/822-0500.

Instructions for the Second MOCA Quilt

MOCA is creating our second queen size quilt. Completed blocks will measure 12 ½ X 12 ½ inches including the ¼ inch seam allowance on all four sides. Although not required, including the color teal in your block is suggested. Your block may be dedicated to one (or more) people who have fought or presently fight ovarian cancer.

Blocks will be laid out “on point.” Therefore, if there is an orientation to your block, you will want to adjust it so when it is displayed with the corners at 12, 3, 6, and 9 o’clock, it will appear appropriately positioned, and not lop sided.

Please use high quality 100 % cotton fabric which is sold in quilt fabric stores. This factor influences shrinkage, fading and durability as the quilt ages. Preshrinking your fabric before you sew your block is highly recommended. Embellishments should be anchored and constructed to withstand travel and any necessary cleaning. If you have questions, please contact MOCA.
