BLOG: A new year, new support group offerings at MOCA

Happy New Year from everyone at MOCA! As we usher in 2017, we’re excited to announce that we’ll be offering new support group options in the New Year.

MOCA organizes support groups to meet the needs of those impacted by ovarian cancer. And we’ve also expanded our offerings to provide even more support to caregivers.

MOCA Connections:

We invite women diagnosed with ovarian cancer and their loved ones to join us to connect with each other, share information and gain support. Walk-ins are always welcome.

Minneapolis: This group meetings every Tuesday of the month from 10 – 11:00 am at the MOCA office in Minneapolis. The group will also meet on the 2nd Thursday of the month from 6 – 7:30 pm at the MOCA office. Coffee, tea and treats will be provided.

Rochester: This group meetings at 5:30 pm at the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge (411 2nd Street NW, Rochester, MN, 55901) on the following dates: January 9, March 6, May 8, July 10, September 11, November 6.

Care for Caregivers:

This is a support group for families, partners and other caregivers of ovarian cancer survivors. Come connect with others, share, vent and laugh. Walk-ins are always welcome. This group meets on the 3rd Thursday of the month from 6 – 7:30 pm at MOCA. Coffee, tea and treats are provided.

Men of MOCA:

Ovarian cancer doesn’t just impact women – partners, husbands, brothers, friends and more are impacted when a woman is diagnosed with ovarian cancer. MOCA provides peer-to-peer support through our Men of MOCA support group and Mentor Program. Join us for the first Men of MOCA gathering at Northgate Brewing this February. For more information about upcoming activities or support, contact Stefanie Gliniany or call (612) 584-3550.

Coffee in the Community:

Join MOCA’s Support Program Manager Stefanie at local coffee shops throughout the Twin Cities metro. Feel free to come talk, listen or just sit. The dates and monthly locations are listed on the MOCA website in advance. Our first Coffee in the Community takes place on Weds., Jan. 18 from 10 am to noon at the Dunn Brothers Coffee on Highway 7 in Minnetonka.

Print out our handy 2017 Support Calendar for a reference of all our support group dates.
