BLOG: MOCA Announces $725K to MN Ovarian Cancer Researchers

1.15.17 It’s official – this week the MOCA Board of Directors announced the amount of research funding that we’ll be providing to Minnesota ovarian cancer researchers in 2017.

We’re providing $725,000 this year, all dedicated to getting us closer to an early detection test, better treatments and a cure for this disease.

It’s funding that you make possible – thanks to your support of MOCA. Your donations, your participation in MOCA events, your passion for this cause when you rally your friends and family to join us in the effort. We’re grateful for you.

MOCA has funded more than 60 research projects since our inception in 1999. With our 2017 amount, we will have provided nearly $7 million to ovarian cancer research funding, making us one of the top funders in the nation.

But our goal is always to do more. That’s why we’ve streamlined our grant making process for researchers this year. And instituted changes that mean researchers who receive our funding can concentrate on ovarian cancer research in a more focused way through grants of up to three years.

We’re accepting proposals through March 1. And we’ll be announcing our 2017 MOCA Grant Recipients at our MOCA Annual Meeting in Bloomington, Minn. on Monday, May 15. Please save the date – more details will come soon.

$725,000 to ovarian cancer research projects here in Minnesota. It’s an amazing accomplishment. And it kicks off a new year momentum that I hope will inspire all of us to do even more throughout 2017.

With gratitude,

Kathleen Gavin
