9.11.15 It’s the day we wait for all year – HOM Teal Strides for Ovarian Cancer is tomorrow, Saturday, Sept. 12!

The forecast looks to be perfect – sunny and beautiful early fall temperatures! If you haven’t registered yet, you can register at Rosland Park Saturday morning starting at 7:30 a.m. Come on out and join us! We’ll have coffee and other refreshments to perk you up!

Before you lace up your walking or running shoes (in teal, hopefully!), we’d like to share some reminders to make the event as fun as possible!

Timing: As we’ve said in years past, we encourage participants to get to Rosland Park early, so you can allow extra time to park and walk, pick up your registration packet and t-shirt, etc. Our inspiring program starts at 8:45 a.m., featuring Sen. Amy Klobuchar and representatives from our three Teal sponsors, among others, and you won’t want to miss it!

Survivors: The Survivor Photo will be taken earlier this year at 8:15 a.m. and we hope all survivors can join in! It’s earlier because we have a drone photographer taking an aerial shot of our survivor group this year!

We are asking that survivors be at the bottom of the hill just to the west of the stage no later than 8:15 a.m. There will be signs and announcements to help you find the way. We will provide some chairs for survivors who would rather sit during the photo. Also, survivors, don’t forget to pick up your goody bag in the Survivor Tent. A full timeline of events that morning can be found here.

Construction: Construction season in Minnesota isn’t over yet – so please plan accordingly and leave early for the park! On Saturday, there will be several closures on Highway 100 in Edina near Rosland Park. According to www.mndot.org, they include: Northbound Hwy 100 between I-494 and Hwy 62, Westbound I-494 ramp to northbound Hwy 100, 77th Street to Northbound Hwy 100, 70th Street ramp to Northbound Hwy 100.

Parking: We have FREE and ample parking at Southdale Mall, so please make sure to park in the Southdale Mall lot. There are shuttle buses available for those who would like a ride across the street to Rosland Park. The shuttle bus will be running from 7:00 a.m.- 11:30 a.m. between the northwest corner of the Southdale lot and Rosland Park. There is limited parking for those with handicap tags in the small parking lot by Rosland Park.

MOCA Store: We will have our MOCA Store on site, selling t-shirts, teal jewelry, hats, and of course, our Tie it Teal laces. We are excited about our many new teal items this year! Be sure to bring cash, check or credit card if you’d like to purchase something.

Fundraising: Don’t forget to turn in donations when you pick-up your t-shirt. And there is still time to fundraise throughout the month! September 30th is the deadline to turn in donations to qualify for incentives.

MOCA Info Tent: Interested in learning more about MOCA? Then be sure to stop by the MOCA information tent on the grounds. At the tent, we’ll also have genetic counselors on hand to talk about the risks of hereditary ovarian and breast cancer as part of the SuperYou awareness campaign, of which MOCA is a part of.

See you Saturday!
