BLOG: MOCA to provide record $1 million to ovarian cancer research in 2016

1.20.16 From everyone at MOCA, welcome to 2016 – a new calendar year, and a new year full of energy to accomplish MOCA’s mission.

I’m excited to open my first Teal Together blog post of the year with the announcement that we are ushering in the new year with a major milestone. For the first time ever, we’ll be providing a record $1 million to ovarian cancer research here in Minnesota.

This is an amazing milestone and one MOCA couldn’t reach without our supporters like you.

Because of you – those who care about advancing ovarian cancer research – we’ve come so far as an organization.

I was reminded of this as I was going through some files and came across notes from a 2002 Board of Directors strategic planning meeting.

We were asked to write headlines that would sum up an aspirational goal of MOCA’s. One of our “shoot for the stars” headlines? “MOCA Awards One Million Dollars.”

It’s so exciting to be able to make that vision a reality. We only wish more of our founders and supporters were still alive today to experience this milestone with us. This is why we keep on. We have lost far too many women to this disease and we won’t give up until we make a meaningful difference that will actually save women’s lives.

We can’t do this without you. We are grateful for your support and hope you keep the momentum going by starting the New Year with a donation to MOCA’s research and programming.
