Trees of Hope
Friday, November 28, 2014 - All Day
We’re excited to announce that MOCA has been selected as one of four non-profits to be featured on WCCO during their holiday Trees of Hope campaign. We are grateful to our supporters at HOM Furniture who are sponsoring the campaign and nominated MOCA for this opportunity.
Starting during the noon show on Friday, Nov. 28, stories and profiles of survivors, MOCA-funded researchers, family members and more will be featured during WCCO’s newscasts. HOM Furniture will be turning the WCCO set teal as they decorate WCCO’s holiday tree in our signature color! Donors will be encouraged to give to MOCA throughout the week. Those who give $25 or more will receive a certificate for a special Trees of Hope holiday ornament.
On Tuesday, December 2 – which is also Giving Tuesday – a phone bank will be set up during all of WCCO’s newscasts. Staffed by MOCA volunteers, WCCO will be encouraging viewers to call in to donate and support MOCA this holiday season.
HOM Furniture is a special supporter of MOCA’s. Besides seeing the value that MOCA offers ovarian cancer survivors and their families, the reason behind the connection is personal. HOM Furniture’s founders, Rodney and Wayne Johansen, lost their mother to ovarian cancer.
“We are proud to support MOCA through the Trees of Hope campaign,” said Rodney Johansen, President and CEO of HOM Furniture. “MOCA does important work for those impacted by ovarian cancer, whether it is through the vital research funding they provide, or by the education and support they offer survivors and their families. We see this as an exciting opportunity for MOCA to raise awareness and funds for this vital organization.”
Stay tuned to MOCA’s Facebook and Twitter pages for highlights of the stories that will air and the phone bank of Giving Tuesday.
