INSPIRED BY YOU: AMY’S STORY
Amy Wivell is a young ovarian cancer survivor who gathered a team of family and friends for HOM Teal Strides for Ovarian Cancer. Determined to make a difference for other young women, Amy made it to the finish line while still undergoing treatment.
How has MOCA made a difference in your life?
“From the beginning of my diagnosis, MOCA has been a constant source of hope when it hasn’t felt like there is any. They provided my family and I with a lot of resources and education when I was newly diagnosed. In one of my darker times, I received a MOCA Cares Kit and was reminded that I’m not alone.”
What have you enjoyed most about being involved with MOCA?
“Participating and running at HOM Teal Strides meant moving forward in the fight against ovarian cancer on several levels… There’s nothing quite like being surrounded by teal and being reminded of ovarian cancer’s impact on many more than just me. It inspires me to keep going.”
Why would you encourage others to support MOCA?
“As a survivor, I know that when I donate to MOCA, they are using my gift to get ahead of this disease. It is truly an organization that gives much more than it receives.”
