MOCA Scholarships Now Awarded Year Round to Health Care Professionals
The Minnesota Ovarian Cancer Alliance is now accepting scholarship applications on a rolling basis for Minnesota oncology nurses and physician assistants to attend relevant conferences aimed at enhancing the care of women with ovarian cancer. The Lubov Arnold Scholarship will now be awarded to qualifying applicants year round.
“We want to make our scholarships accessible for nurses and physician assistants working to improve the lives of women with ovarian cancer. Offering these scholarships throughout the year will allow health care providers more options to gain a greater understanding of ovarian cancer and provide better care for their patients,” said Kathleen Gavin, MOCA Executive Director.
The Lubov Arnold Scholarship is available through MOCA with the support from the families of Anita Lubov, who died from ovarian cancer in 1999 and Jan Arnold who died from melanoma in 2017. Oncology nurses and physician assistants currently practicing in Minnesota may apply for support to attend conferences which help improve their care of women with ovarian cancer, increase their knowledge of ovarian cancer and enable them to educate others.
The Lubov Arnold Scholarship funding may be used to support travel, conference fees, lodging and per diem expenses. Individual scholarships range from $1,000 to $5,000. Multiple scholarships may be awarded each year. Applications must be received by the MOCA office at least 60 days prior to the start of the conference. MOCA will notify applicants within three weeks of receiving the application.
The Lubov Arnold Scholarship application is available here. Scholarships awarded during 2020 will be announced November 11, 2020 at the MOCA Awards Celebration. For questions about the scholarship application, please contact Kate Micek at firstname.lastname@example.org.
