One of our favorite days of the year is coming up on Saturday, September 7—HOM Teal Strides for Ovarian Cancer. In this month’s Teal Talk, MOCA Community Support Program Manager Stefanie Gliniany shares about some special ways we’re celebrating our teal community at this fun and inspirational event!
If you’ve never attended HOM Teal Strides—or maybe you haven’t joined us in a few years, I’d like to share a bit about what to expect and how we honor our survivors. This year, we’re celebrating MOCA’s 25th Anniversary. You’ll hear stories of hope from long-term survivors and our health care community during our special program.
You can visit our Survivor Tent anytime throughout the morning. It’s a special spot just for survivors to connect with others and learn about all of the support, resources and education MOCA offers. We will have buttons for you to wear, and you can personalize them with the number of months or years you’ve been a survivor. We will also have a small bag and some giveaway items for you to pick up.
At 9:15 a.m., we will take our annual HOM Teal Strides Group Survivor Photo. I always get tears in my eyes watching all the survivors gather for this photo. It’s such a reflection of strength, hope and inspiration for our entire community.
I’d also like to encourage you to visit some of our HOM Teal Strides Teal Sponsors booths. This year, you’ll be able to visit with representatives from Mayo Clinic, Minnesota Oncology, the University of Minnesota Department of Gynecologic Oncology/Masonic Cancer Center and more. We are thrilled to have HealthSource Chiropractic back with us again this year to offer chair massages.
I hope you register to join us, connect—and find camaraderie. You don’t need to walk or run! I just hope you decide to be here to share in the fun of the day.
I hope to see you there!
