Dealing with cancer is challenging, and we need to remember to take time for ourselves and those supporting us. There are several people and organizations that have created retreats for cancer survivors and loved ones to help improve their mental and physical wellness. In this month’s Teal Talk, MOCA Community Support Program Manager Stefanie Gliniany shares some of the many opportunities available.

First Descents provides life-changing outdoor adventures such as rock climbing or kayaking for young adults (18-45) impacted by cancer, caregivers and healthcare workers. First Descents offers week-long trips all throughout the U.S. that are free for first-time camp-goers.

Camp Good Days Women’s Wellness helps foster support among women who are dealing with cancer. Located in Mendon, New York, Camp Good Days Women’s Wellness has a variety of year-round weekend retreats for survivors and caregivers to connect and relax. Activities focus on wellness and may include yoga, arts and crafts and a variety of recreational activities.

Live by Living in Colorado provides transformative outdoor experiences for cancer survivors and their caregivers. This free retreat is three days and two nights and helps you find solace in the beauty of nature and make new friends with people who understand what you’ve been through.

There are so many wonderful retreats and experiences for survivors and loved ones! If you’d like to explore even more opportunities, please visit Nancy’s List for an extensive list of retreats available in the U.S.
