Kate joined the MOCA staff in October 2016 as an administrative assistant. In addition to her administrative responsibilities, she worked with MOCA’s research funding program and became the Grants Manager in August 2017. Kate remotely manages all phases of the grant cycle, the Minnesota-based and national research award applications and the health care scholarships. She is also the liaison between MOCA and prospective and currently-funded researchers.
Kate earned her master’s degree in Public Health from Emory University and her bachelor’s degree in social work from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. She has worked for several public health organizations including Johns Hopkins University, Emory University, the American Refugee Committee, and the Peace Corps.
She currently resides in Portland, Oregon, but loves stopping by the MOCA office to say hello when she is in town!
When Kate is not working, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Ernesto, and their two dogs. She also likes to travel, macrame, and bake treats.
