Kate joined the MOCA staff in October 2016 as an administrative assistant. In addition to her administrative responsibilities, she worked with MOCA’s research funding program and became the Grants Manager in August 2017. Kate remotely manages all phases of the grant cycle and is the liaison between MOCA and prospective and currently-funded researchers.
Before joining MOCA, Katie worked at the American Refugee Committee on program development, served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Madagascar, and was a social worker in a nursing home.
Kate earned her Master’s degree in Public Health from Emory University where she continues to work on research projects. She also holds a Bachelor’s degree in social work from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. She currently resides in Atlanta, GA but loves stopping by the MOCA office to say hello when she is in town!
When Kate is not working, she enjoys spending time with her partner, Ernesto, and their two dogs. She also likes to travel, macrame, and bake treats.
