In Survivors

HOM Teal Strides for Ovarian Cancer is truly a meaningful event for our teal community. In this month’s Teal Talk, MOCA Community Support Program Manager Stefanie Gliniany shares about the special ways we’re celebrating our survivors at MOCA’s annual walk and run.

I hope you make plans to join us for MOCA’s HOM Teal Strides on Saturday, September 13th. This year, we’re marking 25 years of MOCA’s annual walk and run event. It’s going to be a fun and meaningful day for our entire community.

If you have never attended HOM Teal Strides or maybe haven’t joined us in a few years, I’d like to share a bit about what survivors can expect and the ways we’re celebrating all of you.  We have a special Survivor Tent for you to visit and connect with others. You can pick up a badge to personalize with the number of months or years you’ve been a survivor. We’ll also have a fun new bag for our survivors to fill with some surprises and goodies!

Our survivors are invited to connect with our teal sisterhood by taking part in our annual group Survivor Photo on event day at 9:15 a.m. This photo reflects hope and resilience. It is always so inspiring to see the number of survivors in the photo grow each year, too.

Another highlight of the day is our uplifting program featuring gynecologic oncologists who will be sharing about advances in treatment and care. We’ll also hear stories of hope from survivors. Before the program, we encourage you to walk around and visit our sponsor booths for fun giveaways. This year, you’ll also be able to shop for fun items from local vendors at our MOCA Marketplace!

Whether you walk, run, or simply join us to connect with our community—you won’t want to miss this incredible day. Make sure to sign up today, here. Survivors receive complimentary teal T-shirts to wear on event day. We can’t wait to see you there!
